Nearly 200 schools in Georgia are accused of cheating on standardized tests. Governor vows he won’t accept a whitewash as state orders schools to investigate themselves, “even in districts where the state found multiple schools with questionable erasures in 25 percent or more of classrooms.”

Not bad enough? Have no fear. The “do-something” legislature is going to do something about this: make it unlawful to tamper with standardized tests. And which branch of government will enforce this law? Why, the Office of Student Achievement, which just turned over its investigation of cheating schools to the cheating schools.

Government accountability: an oxymoron.
